Beginning Oct 1st… Ask an Expert Event on Young Children and Homelessness
For October’s “Ask an Expert” discussion with Jim Moberly, we’re exploring how preschool teachers and caregivers can help families who are homeless by identifying homeless children, enrolling them in available programs, and providing them with information about school supplies, transportation, and housing.
Jim Moberly, the Area IV Lead Liaison Homeless Coordinator, oversees six Regional Offices of Education representing 106 school districts in East Central Illinois. He has been responsible for identifying and enrolling homeless children in schools, as well as with educating local schools, communities, and service organizations on the rights of students who are homeless.
