Within the next few weeks, the Projects in Practice Web site will be unveiled. The site will have both public and private sections.
The public section of the site will include periodic postings of projects conducted by an Illinois PreK teacher who has taken part in the Illinois Projects in Practice Initiative; an online template for teachers to use to submit descriptions of their projects along with videos and pictures; and a column by Lilian Katz highlighting some aspect of the Project Approach. Other features of the site include a section for administrators to help them support teachers in project work, a research section, a Project Approach calendar, a glossary, and a section that lists the names of teachers who have completed the Illinois Resource Center’s Projects in Practice training.
The private section of the Web site will be password-accessible and available to all those who have completed at least Level 1 of the Illinois Resource Center’s Projects in Practice training. This section will have the complete list of participants in Projects in Practice training sessions with contact information for networking purposes. It will also contain an archive of IMC-L (model classroom) listserv postings; a place where teachers can share documentation from their projects; a question-answering service providing expert responses by IEL staff, including Lilian Katz and Sallee Beneke; and a threaded-discussion section that will facilitate sharing information about various aspects of project work. - New IEL Tip Sheet in English
