Ask an Expert for September —Sibling Relationships

As parents, we want our children to get along—not just to make life easier for us, but because children’s siblings can be a source of fun, caring, and support. The challenge to parents is to promote positive interactions between brothers and sisters while also giving them tools to handle conflict effectively. Starting on September 1 through September 21, you can send questions about sibling relationships to Amanda Kolburn. Amanda has a B.A. in Psychology from UCLA and a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Illinois, held an NIMH postdoctoral fellowship at UCLA, and taught at the University of Missouri Columbia.

To ask your question, please go to:
http://illinoisearlylearning.org/askanexpert.htm

Answers will be posted from approximately September 8–28. Additional resources related to sibling relationships are available at http://illinoisearlylearning.org/askanexpert/kolburn/sup.htm.
