Department of Pediatrics, Christie Clinic

Most parents are eager to get their children immunized and protected against diseases. Many parents, however, are concerned about the number of immunizations that children currently receive, children’s reactions to various immunizations, and why some immunizations have been taken off the market. This Chat answers questions such as, “Babies get so many immunizations. Can this overwhelm or weaken their immune system?” “How many children have severe reactions to vaccines, and does the percentage or number vary by the kind of vaccine?” “What can parents do to minimize their child's discomfort when they get a shot?” “Where can I find a copy of the most up-to-date immunization schedule for children in Illinois?”
