A project is an in-depth investigation of a topic that is interesting to children. This Chat relates the activities of the Project Approach to the Illinois Early Learning Standards that were developed by the Illinois State Board of Education. The standards are related to "state goals," and the state goals are organized into "learning areas." Find answers to questions such as, “Why is the Project Approach a good method to use in early childhood programs?” “What are some approaches to seeing to it that the Standards and the project you're doing with the children are aligned?” “Won't our focus on the very specific benchmarks of the early learning standards narrow the kind of learning achieved through the Project Approach?”
