Sallee Beneke is an instructor in the
Department of Early Childhood Education and the Director of the Early
Childhood Education Center at Illinois Valley Community College in
Oglesby, Illinois. She teaches the Work Sampling System, Documentation
Practices, and the Project Approach at the college and supports student
teachers as they implement these practices at the Early Childhood
Education Center. She has previously worked as a master teacher, prekindergarten
at-risk teacher, early childhood special education teacher, and childcare
director.
Ms. Beneke is the author of Rearview Mirror: Reflections on a Preschool Car Project, and co-author of Windows on Learning: Documenting Young Children's Work and Teacher Materials for Documenting Young Children's Work with Dr. Judy Harris Helm and Kathy Steinheimer.
Sallee and her husband, Bill, live in Princeton, Illinois with their four children, Maggie, Alice, Tom, and Abby.
