Barbara FieseBarbara H. Fiese, Ph.D., is the Pampered Chef Endowed Chair in Family Resiliency and professor and director of the Family Resiliency Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to coming to the University of Illinois, she served as chair of the Department of Psychology at Syracuse University. She is a clinical and developmental psychologist whose research interests focus on family factors that promote health and well-being in children. She is recognized as a pioneer in the study of family routines and rituals and has also contributed to the study of family storytelling. Her current work focuses on the ways that families create routines to promote medical adherence for children with chronic health conditions such as asthma. Her most recent book, Family Routines and Rituals, was published by Yale University Press in 2006.
